Our larvae have grown a little bigger.

Today we observed our Helicoverpa Armigera. We discovered their growth this week was considerable. Some now measure 7cm long. We noticed they had changed colour and that some of them have moved into their next stage of life -pupae.

Photo Day Tomorrow!!

Don't forget school photos are tomorrow. Make sure your black shoes are shiny and that you have your blazer. You will also need your best smile!

If you are in one of Mrs Dimitrovska's strings groups, you will need to bring your instrument for the photo.

Shape Detectives and Our New Pets

As we were leaving school I overheard this comment that was said by one of our Year 2 students to their parent.

"Today, we got to play with shapes and we got new pets. It was awesome!"

What a great example of the enthusiasm we are seeing for learning and discovery in our classroom.

Over the coming weeks you will hear a lot about our pets the Helicoverpa Armigera and their life cycle. Today we observed that the eggs (from Caterpillar Classroom) have hatched and now have become neonates.

There are more great photos in the photo tab at the top of the page.

Notes Today

Parents,

Today Year 2 Students will receive quite a few notes. These notes include information about school login details, Mathletics login details, Home Reading, our weekly schedule, literacy group parent helpers and Cake Day.  Those students who have not already returned their Travel Arrangement form will also receive an additional copy of this.

Could we please request that students bring their purple note & reader folder each day so we can ensure paper communication is looked after and received.

With regards to Usernames and Passwords, we have endeavored to unify as many of these as we can to reduce the amount of access details students need to remember. In most cases usernames and passwords are the same as their school username and password. The main difference is that on some sites the first letter of their password is Upper Case and in others it is lower case. Students will receive their login details for Mathletics this afternoon. Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Soundwaveskids use different passwords and they will recieve these as they need them.

If you have any questions about your child's login details, please don't hesitate to speak with Miss Lloyd or myself.

Homework

This week we will begin our Year 2 homework. It will include spelling activities, Mathletics tasks and often an additional task that will vary from week to week. Sometimes it may be a writing task, rehearsal for a topic talk or some research. At any time you have questions please don't hesitate to contact Miss Lloyd or myself.

Mathletics passwords will be sent home tomorrow; however, they are the same as last year. Please encourage your student to begin to explore our Year Blog. It will be a portal to many of the learning activities we do in Year 2.

Swimming Carnival Excitement

Today has been so much fun! We have been swimming, dressing up and cheering. We are waiting with anticipation for the novelties to begin.

The Rams, Eagles and Sharks have been fighting it out hard to find out which team will be crowned as this year's champion of the swimming carnival. The cheering by each House is deafening! Which team will it be?

Welcome to Year 2 from Mrs Agren!

Welcome to Year 2!!

My name is Mrs Agren and I'm excited to be working with Year 2 on Mondays and Tuesdays.
On Monday I will be teaching 2H and Tuesday 2L. On those days I will be teaching Literacy, Numeracy and Devotions, however my main focus across the grade will be Visual Art. This term we will be experimenting with sketching, painting and digital photography. I would love any newspaper donations as we seem to go through it very quickly.

I'm looking forwards to a fun term ahead!!
