Week 4 Homework

Welcome to Week 4. This week is another big week with the School Athletics carnival being held at "The Fridge" on Tuesday and a length experimentation day for Maths groups  and Bounce on Wednesday. The presentations that were scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed until Wednesday. Today our goal is to finish our Toys (Cars) for Katoke project by putting the final coats of paint on them. Our plan is to have these sent early next week.

We would also like to introduce Miss Shaw's class from Castle Rock, Colarado. This week 2H will be posting comments and questions on their class blog to gain insight and understanding from another worldly perspective. Please feel free to join us and give feedback to their students.

New Blogging Friends

Our class has signed up for a collaborative adventure called Quadblogging. During the months of May and June we will be partnering with schools from around the globe to discover their learning and expand our global connection. We are so excited to share the 2H blog and all our learning in Australia with three class blogs from Bamford - UK, Rock Ridge - USA and Matakana - New Zealand. For an entire week in May or June, each classroom will take turns as the spotlight blog while the other three view the blogposts and leave comments.

The link to each blog and their schools website are below, students are welcome to explore the blogs with their parents and we planning opportunities in the class as well. We would love our new blogging friends to answer some of the questions we have about their schools in a comment, as we can't wait to learn more about their classrooms. We are looking forward to the fun.

Mrs Berteisen – Still to come.

Term 2 Week 3 Homework

Thank you to everyone involved in our amazing fete on the weekend. I know there has been so much positive feedback.

This week we will begin to read in English our new text for the term Nim's Island. Through this book and others such as Where the Forest meets the Sea students will learn about environmental sustainability. We will be continuing our study on Wet and Dry Environments and introduce our Science topic - Water. In Maths we will spend more time on addition strategies and introduce our topic for next week - length.

This week our Literacy and Numeracy groups will start back. This also means that parent helpers will also be back in the classroom. If you are interested and not already on the roster please contact me to arrange a time either in class or on one of our excursions.

Fete Day

What a great way to start the fete. Here is a snap shot of the action so far. It has been so fun showing parents and visitors our classroom and all of the interactive technology Mr Host has. Things like the Robotic car to teach us about direction, Wilderquest on the iPad for Wet and Dry Environments and the Aurasma videos to help us think about saving our endanger animals. "The best thing today has been the rides and showing grandma my classroom, she was so proud of me!"

Opera Australia

We were incredibly privileged to have Opera Artists from Opera Australia in residence today. They performed 'The Barber of Saville' and had students captivated with the humour weaved within the lyrics.

Thank you to Mr Newton for organising the performance and to the wonderful actors.

Week 2 Term 2 Homework

Welcome to Week 2. This week we will continue our introduction to the Wet and Dry Environments unit and revisit concepts from Term 1. Student's have loved engaging with the Wilderquest app and comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between Jeannie Baker's Where the Forest meets the Sea visual text and video.

Week 1 Term 2

It has been an incredibly full week in 2H. We spent a lot of our time completing tasks such as our Toys for Katoke. They are currently white with their second layer of undercoat on. We also introduced our unit on Wet and Dry Environments. Students were able to engage with the NSW Parks Service app Wilderquest to discover the rich and varied native animals living right here in our classroom.
